Day 3 is done! who knew Portland was so hilly?? It was good weather and I met some really nice people along the way. Terrible moment came when I witnessed a green sedan hit a dog and take off, poor dog won't make it, but a nice couple stopped and were going to try to get him some help. that really put a damper on the day.
Tonight we drove up to Battleground WA to visit with the Barney family. Larry Barney served with me at Fort Richardson AK, and Donna and Shana spent a lot of time together while we were in Iraq. The kids are having a great time, and its great visiting with old friends!
Looking forward to tomorrow, Still running through Portland, it's great to see the city this way!

Day 2 is done.What a long day! The stiffness from yesterday caught up with me, and I was glad to find a shortcut that saved me a few miles! After a few setbacks we have made it to Oregon. The journey here was longer than expected, but we saw some great sights a long the way, and met some nice people!
I started running this morning from Cannon beach. It was perfect weather for a 38 mile run, cool and sunny. there was about 20 minutes of rain towards the end of the day, but really it was ideal running weather!
Cannon Beach was beautiful, the kids enjoyed playing in the sand, and despite the cool temperatures, even managed to get soaking wet.

It was a good day, I am a little sore and tired,, but looking forward to what tomorrow holds!

We stopped for dinner at camp 18 restaurant. its an old logging site, and has really neat wood carvings and lots of fun things to look at. The kids loved the wooden bears inside, and the warm fireplace and comfy couches!

Once we are able to get the photos off the camera we will upload a few from the first day!

We made it to Montana, tonight we are at the first ever  KOA in Billings, Montana. It has been a long week of travelling, we had a few setbacks, in the form of flat tires! But we met a great guy named John, at J & S restore in Kadoka South Dakota, and he fixed our tire for us, and we were on our way again!
Due to this setback I am delaying the start of the run by 1 day, so I will begun running from Cannon Beach Oregon, on Sunday June 3rd. I had scheduled some rest days though, so I should be able to work it out so I am still on track with my original schedule.
I was able to run this evening for the first time in 4 days, and it felt great! All the sitting in the RV is making me excited to start running.
The kids and I were able to swim tonight, which everyone enjoyed, even though its a little cooler here, the heated pool was great=)\
We have had some great views along the way, and are really enjoying this time as a family.
We've collected red dirt, seen an 80 foot tall green dino, saw the Indiana sandunes, stopped at a beach on Lake Michigan, and saw Mt Rushmore. I can't think of a better way to start the summer, and am looking forward to what adventures lay ahead!

It looks great, and is already drawing lots of attention to the run! Tom Ewing took our ideas and this is the design he came up with, and we love it! We had an open house Sunday, and were really blessed by friends family and neighbors who showed up to show their support and make donations, this wouldn't be possible without you all!!
We are leaving in a couple of days for Oregon. Time is flying by now, and I am ready to run!
